The Problem

​RFQs and customer questions are typically issued by phone, email, or website upload and are accompanied by 3D CAD models (and other files and documents, typically). Unfortunately, these models are not easily viewable without a CAD platform license or translator add-ons to CAM platforms, but these licenses/add-ons are expensive, and most manufacturers don’t need heavy CAD functionality. Sales, business development, program management, and front-office staff don’t need a full CAD platform even if your company does some heavy design work, but they do need to view, translate, measure, and manipulate solid models in order to prepare a quote, and answer customer questions. That typically means they need assistance from others in the facility to do their job properly. Shops can now utilize a single point of contact with our free manufacturing quoting software.

Additionally, quoting is typically based on “tribal knowledge” which usually resides in the heads of a select few experienced people within the company.
